Nelson Ledges Quarry Park is home to a variety of fun activities for the whole family. Created in combination by the Ice Age and the shifting of the Earth’s tectonic plates and made up of quarts and sandstone ledges- this place is filled with natural beauty. It wasn’t until the 1950’s when machinery hit a natural spring that the quarry filled with water.
Nelson Ledges is home to a variety of people. There are those who come to hike the beautiful landscape, those who come to scuba dive and snorkel in hope of seeing some Ohio’s only fresh water jellyfish, those who come to spend a relaxing day swimming on the life guarded beach and the care free lovers of music who come on the weekends to enjoy the live music at the beautiful stage. Nelson Ledges is one of the most loved music venues in Ohio and one of the greatest places for swimming. The quarry is also home to seasonal vendors supplying the quarry goers with great food and cool gifts. Check out Tie-Dye Lisa's on the beach for cold drinks, little trinkets and swimming inflatable rentals all summer long!
The park is made up of 250 acres of forest, meadows, rock ledges, running streams, hiking trails and the actual water filled quarry itself. With so many naturally beautiful things packed into one place you will never run out of things to do. Also, with Nelson Kennedy Ledges State Park just a few miles away even more adventure awaits you just down the street. So if you’re looking for a fun place to take the kids on weekdays or a place to escape to on the weekend, Nelson Ledges is the place!
